Community ActivitiesUNICO National, Nutley, New Jersey Chapter1993 to Present – Member. Local offices held include Chapter Secretary; Third, Second and First Vice President; Chapter President, 2003-2005; and Member, Executive Committee. 1999 – Incorporated and obtained 501(c)(3) charitable organization designation for “Nutley UNICO, Inc.”, the Nutley Chapter of UNICO National. 1996 to 2003 – Nutley Chapter Scholarship Committee Chairman. Reorganized and revitalized Chapter’s annual scholarship program, and grew it from a $7,500 to a $23,000 annual program. 2000 – Nutley Chapter “UNICAN of the Year”. 2001 to 2003 – National Secretary, UNICO National. In 2001-2002, chaired, organized and ran “Operation Unity”, UNICO National’s post-9/11 fund-raising effort. Raised $30,000 for 9/11-related charities, and oversaw the nationwide distribution of those funds. Created operational handbook, guidelines and forms for National Secretary position. Chaired UNICO National “Major Don S. Gentile Scholarship Committee”, 2003. 2009 – Chair, Nutley Chapter 50th Anniversary Gala Committee. Event raised $17,500 for scholarship program, exceeding $15,000 fundraising “target” for the event.
Nutley Family Service Bureau, Nutley, New JerseyTrustee, 2000 to 2003. Vice President of the Board of Trustees, 2002-2003. Chaired Strategic Planning Committee. Responsible for pursuing and obtaining acceptance into “Partnership in Philanthropy” program for nonprofit organizations.
Newark Arts Council, Newark, New JerseyTrustee, 2008-2010. Member of the Strategic Planning Committee and Executive Committee.
