John Cavaliere has dedicated virtually his entire legal career to the firm, starting as a summer associate in 1985. As a member of McManimon & Scotland, John specializes in the areas of private activity bond financing, real estate, banking, redevelopment, commercial transactions and corporate law. John was the principal draftsman of the New Jersey Redevelopment Area Bond Financing Law, which allows municipalities to finance projects in redevelopment areas by leveraging payments in lieu of taxes from private developers.

John has worked with New Jersey bond issuers in various roles, serving as bond counsel, trustee’s counsel, placement agent/underwriter’s counsel, borrower’s counsel and letter of credit bank counsel involving transactions in which billions of dollars in bonds have been issued. Among these entities are the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority, the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Financing Authority, the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority, The Atlantic County Improvement Authority, The Bergen County Improvement Authority, The Salem County Improvement Authority, The Gloucester County Improvement Authority, The Hudson County Improvement Authority, the Carteret Redevelopment Agency, the Pollution Control Financing Authority of Middlesex County, Lafayette Yard Development Corporation and the Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation.

John also represents several major banks in private activity bond transactions and commercial loan transactions. His banking clients include The Bank of New York Mellon, Capital One Bank, N.A., City National Bank of New Jersey, Deutsche Bank, Peapack-Gladstone Bank, Skylands Community Bank, TD Bank, N.A., U.S. Bank National Association and Wells Fargo Bank, National Association.

John received his B.A. in political science, magna cum laude in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude in 1986 from Fordham University. He was admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey in 1986 and in the State of New York in 1987 and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

John lives in Randolph, New Jersey with his wife Jean, an attorney specializing in adoption law, and two daughters, Susan and Christine.
