Amelia J. Rideau is an associate with the law firm McManimon & Scotland, L.L.C., working primarily in redevelopment. Mrs. Rideau specializes in land use, including the designation of redevelopment and rehabilitation areas and the adoption of redevelopment plans, and the provision of public financial assistance in the form of redevelopment area bonds, payments in lieu of taxes and tax abatements. Mrs. Rideau also assists in the representation of qualified active low-income community businesses and housing authorities in financings utilizing New Markets Tax Credits and Low Income Housing Tax Credits, respectively. Mrs. Rideau’s work includes the representation of public entities and non-profits in the negotiation and implementation of development agreements, redevelopment agreements and financial agreements for low-income and moderate-income housing, retail, commercial and mixed-use projects. Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Rideau worked for the City of Newark Office of the Urban Enterprise Zone, where she was responsible for drafting grant proposals to be submitted to the Urban Enterprise Zone Authority for a myriad of land use, redevelopment, real estate, and economic development issues. Mrs. Rideau received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Political Science and English in 2001, and her Juris Doctorate Degree from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark in 2005. Mrs. Rideau has served in several community and public interest positions throughout her professional career. Before attending law school, Mrs. Rideau worked as a Coordinator for the NAACP Voter Empowerment Program conducting voter registration and education activities, and during law school Mrs. Rideau interned with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund researching voting rights legislation and case law. While attending Rutgers, Mrs. Rideau served as Editor-and-Chief of the Rutgers Race and the Law Review and Vice President of Community Affairs for the Association of Black Law Students. Mrs. Rideau is currently a member of the New Jersey Bar Association. Education
